Lanzarote registers a new death due to coronavirus, the first in two and a half months

It is a woman who was admitted to the hospital, and that raises to 73 the deaths registered on the island since the beginning of the pandemic

The Ministry of Health has reported this Tuesday a new death in Lanzarote due to coronavirus, so it would be the victim number 73 since the beginning of the pandemic. The last death registered by the disease on the island was on May 13, more than two and a half months ago.

The deceased is a woman who was admitted to the Molina Orosa Hospital, as confirmed by the health center.

Along with this one, the Canary Islands has registered another thirteen deaths since last Friday, nine reported in Gran Canaria and four in Tenerife. One of the deceased was 51 years old, while the rest were between 69 and 94 years old, and all of them suffered from previous pathologies and were in hospital.

On the other hand, since last Friday there have been registered in the archipelago 626 new positives in Covid-19 among people over 60 years old, which is the population group that is being monitored in the current phase of the pandemic.

The Accumulated Incidence for this age group at 14 days is 736.71 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days is 280.43.

From Health they point out that since July 8 "a sustained decrease in the accumulated incidence at 7 days has been observed, when we reached 913 cases per 100,000 inhabitants".

Currently, in the archipelago there are 359 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 26 are in ICU and the rest, 333, in plant.
