As of last March, Lanzarote had a total of 1,291 registered associations, so there would be one for every 115 inhabitants. According to the latest population figures published by the Cabildo Data Center for 2018, the number of inhabitants on the island amounts to 149,183. In addition, since 2010, the number of associations in Lanzarote has increased by 58%.

Currently, of the 1,291 registered associations, 636 are cultural and ideological, being the largest group, followed by sports, recreational and youth with a total of 207 groups. The educational associations existing on the island amount to 83, the same as those of neighbors, and behind them are those of social action and philanthropic and welfare c with 50 registered groups respectively.

There are also 42 economic and professional associations; 27 family, consumer and senior citizen associations; 20 related to deficiencies and diseases; and 11 related to women. In addition, there are another 70 classified as "various".

The largest number of associations is concentrated in Arrecife with a total of 555, while 231 are based in Teguise and San Bartolomé and Tías have 155 groups each. In Yaiza there are 70 registered associations, in Haría 67, and in Tinajo 57.

Likewise, the Cabildo Data Center publishes the evolution of the number of associations registered in Lanzarote since 2010, according to figures from the General Directorate of Territorial Administration of the Government of the Canary Islands. And, in comparison with that year, there are currently 477 more associations, since in 2010 there were 814 registered groups, which represents an increase of 58%.

In 2011 the number of associations decreased to 710, but then it increased every year. Thus, in 2012 there were 882 registered associations, while in 2013 there were 921 and in 2014 a total of 1,027. In 2014, the number of groups in Lanzarote amounted to 1,090, while in 2016 it was 1,154 and in 2017 it was 1,219. In 2018, there were 1,291 registered associations, the same number as of March of this year.
