Julián de León Tejera, the former municipal gardener of Arrecife, passed away this Sunday at the age of 90. The Arrecife City Council conveys its condolences to the family and many friends of the deceased, who was a municipal gardener and during his dedication stood out for being a defender of the care of public spaces and gardens of the capital.
In his honor, the capital City Council named a square in the Titerroy neighborhood after him in 2017. A plaque with the name of Julián de León Tejera stands out in this public space next to El Rafael street, in the Titerroy neighborhood. During the past term, this square premiered lighting.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León Machín, attended the wake this afternoon and personally conveyed his condolences, and on behalf of the Municipal Corporation, to his direct relatives. "A great worker of the Arrecife City Council has left us. He had been retired for a long time, but throughout his many years as a municipal gardener he gave good examples of his passion for gardens and trees, and for taking care of the public spaces of Arrecife," the mayor highlighted this Monday, who conveyed his condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his widow Nena Luzardo, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his many friends.
His funeral will take place this Monday at 6:00 p.m. in Arrecife, and his subsequent burial in the Municipal Cemetery of San Bartolomé.
