The Catholic community of the Villa de Teguise began Holy Week with the traditional procession of the Lord of the Little Donkey.
At 6:00 p.m., in the market of the Church of Christ of Vera Cruz, the faithful gathered to begin the acts, presided over by the parish priest, Juan Manuel Molina. The celebration began with the blessing of the olive branches carried by children and adults.
Next, the procession began with the image of the Lord of the Little Donkey, which traveled through the cobblestone streets of the Historic Quarter of Teguise. During the journey, the parishioners sang hymns and psalms characteristic of this celebration.
The procession ended at the main church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where the Eucharist was celebrated, also presided over by parish priest Juan Manuel Molina. It is a very special celebration that marks the beginning of Holy Week, with readings focused on the Passion of the Lord.
Throughout the ceremony, the community also participated in the songs typical of Palm Sunday, a day on which the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is commemorated.
