The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government has declared an alert for high temperatures in the Canary Islands from noon this Wednesday. This was reported by the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water in a statement issued this Tuesday.

In addition, it has also decreed a pre-alert situation due to an episode of haze, in variable quantity, which will enter through Lanzarote and then spread to the rest of the islands. This episode may reduce visibility and generate or aggravate health problems for people with chronic diseases.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), a high temperature episode and "exceptional values" are expected for this time of year, which will be accompanied by dry air and haze.

In the case of Lanzarote, it is likely that between 30 and 34 degrees will be reached or exceeded in areas of the interior and south of Lanzarote.
