The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government has declared an alert for high temperatures in Lanzarote, La Graciosa and the rest of the islands of the archipelago. Initially, the Canarian Executive had decreed a pre-alert situation from this Tuesday for the same reason.

The declaration will be valid from this Wednesday at 8:00 in the morning and until temperatures decrease. Based on the prediction of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and other sources, the Canary Islands foresee a heat episode with temperatures that could reach between 34 and 38 degrees.

As reported by the Executive, the highest temperatures will occur in mid-altitude areas and in the interior of the islands. In addition, the minimum temperatures are also expected to be "abnormally high", with special incidence "on the east, south and west slopes".

Thus, there will be several areas with minimum temperatures of more than 25 degrees. To which is added the presence of light haze.
