The Haría City Council regrets the death of Gregorio Barreto Viñoly, official chronicler of the municipality and Haría Prize in 1996. Barreto was also an employee of the northern Council until his retirement in 2005, having accidentally held the Secretariat on numerous occasions.

The government group announces that three days of official mourning will be decreed and highlights his "enormous work of research and compilation of historical data from our environment and our traditions since the early 70s, which today is a priceless treasure."

From 1999, and until just a year ago, he wrote weekly in the Hoja de Haría, in different spaces from which he recounted different aspects of Haría society that were highly valued by the residents. He also actively participated in the associative, cultural and sports life of the municipality.

The northern Consortium extends its condolences to the family and loved ones in such a sad moment and expresses its regret at the loss of a relevant Harían who played a fundamental role in the conservation and transmission of the municipality's history.
