On Friday, September 14, at the XXIV Island Crafts Fair, the ceramist Agustín Alemán Pérez received the tribute that had been prepared for him by the Industry Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
The event began with the screening of a video that included a brief review of the honoree's life. Subsequently, the councilor of the branch Rocío Arredondo took the floor, followed by the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, and the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés. All praised the work of Agustín, who has been participating in the fair since its inception, in addition to his effort and perseverance to be able to support such a large family with six children, four of them studying at the university.
The honoree also addressed the authorities, friends and the public that had gathered around the stage to thank them for such distinction and said, among other things, that "this recognition encouraged him to continue working to be able to support his family."
When the time came for gifts, the Minister of Industry gave a bouquet of flowers to one of his daughters, while the ceramist was given a commemorative plaque as a souvenir. For his part, the mayor of Tinajo gave him two books published by the city council and the president of the Cabildo gave him a large basket made with pírgano.
The recognition ended with the performance of the craftsman Fefo García, who addressed a few words to the honoree in the Guanche language in addition to singing a song accompanied by his timple.
