The educational and social community of Lanzarote deeply regrets the passing of Domingo Concepción García, biologist, teacher and key figure in the defense of the environment and sustainable development on the island. The University School of Tourism of Lanzarote (EUTL), where he worked as a professor, has expressed its regret and honored his legacy with an emotional statement.
Domingo Concepción left an indelible mark on generations of students and colleagues, not only for his academic excellence, but for his constant involvement in the protection of Lanzarote's natural and cultural heritage. His career was marked by research, teaching and environmental activism, being recognized in 2016 with the First Biosphere Reference Award, granted by the Council of the Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote. This award highlighted his "professional, social and personal work linked to the development of environmental and social projects" that have tangibly benefited the island.
In addition to his role as an educator, Domingo was a promoter of multiple studies and reports that addressed areas as diverse as sustainability, fair economics and institutional development. His figure was a source of inspiration for those who shared his path, inside and outside the classroom.
From the EUTL they wanted to convey their sincere condolences to the family, friends and the entire community that had the privilege of knowing and working with him. "Your EUTL family will always miss you. Thank you, Domingo, for so much. RIP", concludes the emotional message.
