"Cruz del Mar, thirty years later" tells the story of the tragedy experienced by the sailors of Lanzarote when they were fishing in Canarian-Saharan waters and were approached by assailants who ended the lives of seven of them. The novel was presented on Saturday at the Insular Library of Arrecife by the Government of the Canary Islands, through its General Directorate of Books, Archives and Libraries, and the Kanaryo Social Organization 'Titeroygakat'.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the authors of the book, Juan Antonio de la Hoz and Mario Luis López, and one of the survivors of the event, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, as well as representatives of the Government of the Canary Islands, the island director of Education Juan Cruz, and Antonio Leal Aguilar, from the Kanaryo Titeroygakat Social Organization, the project's promoting group.

The novel deals with the distressing moments experienced by the crew of the fishing boat "Cruz del Mar", where a total of seven sailors were murdered by assailants who boarded the boat in Saharan waters, equipped with machine guns. Only three fishermen managed to return alive and tell what happened. Now, every November 28, the society of Lanzarote pays an emotional tribute in memory of the deceased.

The publication of this book, in fact, is also part of a tribute project conceived by the Kanaryo Titeroygakat Social Organization, with the intention of keeping the story of this brutal murder alive. The project is made up of different activities, in addition to the edition of three books dedicated entirely to telling the story of the Cruz del Mar.
