On Tuesday night, the twenty-seventh edition of the Arrecife Carnival Murgas Contest continued, with four murgas once again taking to the stage of the Arrecife Fairgrounds to perform their two songs. Francisco José Navarro presented each of the murgas participating in the second night of the contest, with the usual ingredients such as criticism, irony and a good sense of humor.
Los Simplones
President: Kike Martín
Musical Director: Kike Martín
Designer: Mencey Curbelo
Fantasy: "If I had known I was spending so much on stripes, I wouldn't have dressed up as Napoleon"
1st Song: "The Changes"
2nd Song: "A song with a corrector"
Los Simplones are celebrating their tenth anniversary and are one of the murgas with the largest number of members, with 70 "Simplones Napoleons" taking to the stage of the Fairgrounds. In their presentation they assured that their main enemy is Víctor Sanginés and on stage the criticised Carnival poster. In the first song they related all those things that need to be changed, including the Tapas Fair or, in the opinion of Los Simplones, the government of the Popular Party. In the second song they made a parody with the whatsapp corrector, being the target of the criticisms Víctor San Ginés to whom they asked not to return anymore and José Manuel Soria. The performance of Simplones ended with barely 7 seconds of margin over the thirty minutes they have, not being able to interpret the farewell.
Desperdigaos
President: Ibán Acosta
Musical Director: Ibán Acosta
Designer: Iván Marín
Fantasy: "Give me thread, needle and a thimble and I'll mend this Carnival"
1st Song: "A night at the museum"
2nd Song: "Who is who?"
It is the second Carnival in which the 32 members of Los Desperdigaos participate, who wore a fantasy in which with thread, needle and thimble, they wanted to mend the Carnival. In the first song they made a parody in which they visited a unique museum and in which they found different species in the rooms of the museum. Víctor Sanginés, Pedro San Ginés, Inés Rojas or José Montelongo, and even a fish tank with a crab at the bottom in reference to Pedro de Armas, were some of the things that were found in the museum. In the second song they played the traditional board game "Who is who?", in which they criticised, among other topics, the management of the Canarian Television with the Carnival of Lanzarote
Las Rebuscadas
President: Demelza Viña
Musical Director: Demelza Viña
Designer: Bea Castro
Fantasy: "Flying I go, flying I come, I come, and at Carnival I stop"
1st Song: "My mayor, my councillor, my president and my city"
2nd Song: "And the convent went wild"
For the 42 members of Las Rebuscadas it is the second year in the Carnival of Arrecife. In their presentation they emulated being in an airport, waiting to catch a flight to the Parque Islas Canarias, where it had been promised to hold this year's murgas contest. Las Rebuscadas made in the first song a search for Manuel Fajardo Feo, mayor who does not appear for the murgas contest and also criticised the delay in the collection of subsidies, blaming Víctor Sanginés for it. And in the second song they became nuns of a convent, receiving the special visit of a tapper-sex seller. A convent that ended up revolutionized with so many things that they were taught.
Los Ensalitrados
President: Angelo Romero
Musical Director: José Luis Toledo
Designer: Alejandro Domínguez
Fantasy: "Kings of the chrono, this year we sing goodbye, curious element the tempo"
1st Song: "To forgive is wise"
2nd Song: "The Jungle at home"
It is the second participation of Los Ensalitrados in the Carnival of Arrecife and they arrive in this edition with a total of 40 members. In the first song they showed different posters on stage, denouncing cases of corruption. And in the second interpretation they became Frank de la Jungla, making the famous presenter a tour of the island of Lanzarote, finding different animal species disguised as politicians and claiming that Lanzarote is ours and not of others.
Third phase of the murgas contest
On Wednesday night, the third and final phase of the XXVII Arrecife Carnival Murgas Contest will take place. The night will open with the performance of Las Inadaptadas, to give way to Las Pijoletas, continue with Las Intoxicadas and conclude with Los Desahuciados. It will be a very feminine night, with the performance of three female groups. At the conclusion of the performance of Los Desahuciados, the jury in charge of assessing the interpretation, lyrics and music, will have to decide the six murgas that access the final next Friday.
