Covid-19 has left a new death in Lanzarote, bringing the number of deaths on the island to 47 since the start of the pandemic.

Daniel Poyato, who was a firefighter by profession and worked at the Lanzarote airport, passed away on Monday night after several weeks of fighting the disease.

As confirmed to La Voz by people close to the deceased, he was admitted to the ICU of the Molina Orosa Hospital and had no previous pathologies. However, although he was 55 years old, he has not been able to overcome Covid-19.

The same sources point out that he could have been infected through a person who went to do a repair to his house, since they assure that he was very strict in complying with the sanitary measures.
