A human chain will run through the eight Canary Islands this Saturday to demand a new energy model and demonstrate the citizens' rejection of oil exploration. This is the central act of the campaign "We have enough energy, why oil?, organized by the association Ben Magec- Ecologistas en Acción and the platform for a New Energy Model for the Canary Islands.

As part of the campaign, these groups have made a spot with artists and children who show their rejection of oil. In the video, you can see well-known actors such as Kira Miró, Julián López, Ana Polvorosa, Mariam Hernández, Carmen Ruiz, Julián Villagrán or Luis Fernández. Ariadne and Aída Artiles, the musicians Domingo Luis "El Colorao" and Yeray Rodríguez, as well as La Terremoto de Alcorcón, among other personalities, also collaborate.

In Lanzarote, the human chain will take place on El Reducto beach at 12:00 noon, the same time as in La Graciosa, where the event will take place on Caleta de Sebo beach. In Fuerteventura, it will be a little later, at 4:00 p.m. on Avenida de la Playa in Gran Tarajal, where there will also be performances, workshops and a solar cooking demonstration.

In Gran Canaria, the human chain will be at 12:00 noon on Avenida Marítima; in Tenerife at 10:30 a.m. on the esplanade of the port of Puerto de la Cruz and in La Palma at 10:00 a.m. a marathon will be run for a new energy model that will depart from the Plaza de España in Los Llanos de Aridane.

Finally, in La Gomera the human chain will take place at 12:00 noon on Avenida de Los Descubridores, in San Sebastián de La Gomera, and in El Hierro it will be at 11:00 a.m. in Malpaso.

The chains will be photographed and printed on a giant canvas that will be taken to the European Parliament, so that it becomes the "symbol of the opposition of citizens to current energy policies and that serves to demonstrate that another energy model is possible in the Canary Islands".
