CCOO has mobilized in Lanzarote this May 1st and has done so by forming a human chain on the Puente de las Bolas in Arrecife. In addition, previously, the union has carried out a concentration in the Ramírez Cerdá Park.

With these acts, the union wanted to pay homage "to the effort and sacrifice of the working people during this pandemic". A recognition that they consider that "cannot remain a mere moral gesture, but must be accompanied by actions and concrete commitments that improve their working conditions."

"We receive communications from ERE almost daily. We cannot allow ERTES to become mass layoffs, financed with public money. We must not allow layoffs to be socialized, while companies distribute millionaire dividends among their managers.

"We have the impression that if there is no strong encouragement from the street, from the mobilization of the working class, it will be difficult for the Government to fulfill its electoral commitments, or for employers to unblock collective bargaining," added Francisco Martínez, secretary of Trade Union Action of CCOO Lanzarote.
