Canary Islands maintains a pre-alert for coastal phenomena in Lanzarote due to waves of up to four meters

This situation will affect the northern and western coast of Lanzarote, El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Fuerteventura, and the northern coast of Tenerife and Gran Canaria

The Directorate General of Emergencies, based on the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency, has extended the alert for adverse coastal phenomena in Lanzarote. Specifically, it will be declared from 5:00 PM this Friday.

This situation will affect the north and west coast of Lanzarote, El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Fuerteventura, and the north coast of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

The sea is expected to be rough, with combined sea swell and waves between 2.5 - 4 meters high. The maritime forecast indicates a northeast wind force 4 - 5 (20 - 40 km/h) with areas of force 6 (41 - 50 km/h) in the open sea between Tenerife and Gran Canaria and to the southeast of Gran Canaria.

In addition, moderate to strong surf and northwest swell of 2 to 4 meters are forecast
