The Canary Islands Government, through the Directorate General of Emergencies, has declared a pre-alert situation due to wind throughout the archipelago starting at 3:00 PM this Tuesday, January 6, a measure that also affects Lanzarote, albeit with less impact compared to other islands.
The pre-alert activation occurs after analyzing the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and other official sources, and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena Risks (PEFMA).
According to forecasts, Lanzarote will be moderately affected by this episode of northeasterly winds, especially in inland areas of the island. Maximum gusts could pointedly reach or exceed 70 kilometers per hour, although the most significant effects are expected in the western islands and in summit areas.
The Canary Islands Government recommends that the public exercise extreme caution, secure objects that could be moved by the wind, and be especially careful when driving, particularly on exposed roads. Likewise, it is advisable to follow the instructions of emergency services and stay informed through official channels.
