The Arrecife Civic Center hosted this Thursday morning the first participatory workshop to "determine the investment needs of the fishing/maritime sector to be financed with EMFF funds." This is the first of two meetings organized by the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Association for Rural and Fisheries Development of Lanzarote, ADERLAN.

Associations, groups, guilds and fishermen have learned about the participation process that has begun for the drafting of the document that includes the Local Development Strategy for the island of Lanzarote, through which it will be possible to access European financing lines.

Antonio Morales, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, accompanied by the manager of ADERLAN, Mercedes Robayna, was in charge of opening the workshop, encouraging those present to get involved by contributing the initiatives they consider necessary.

"It is essential that the drafting of the document reflects those projects that arise from the consensus of the population and that have a positive economic and social impact," he said. Atlántida M.A is the entity in charge of drafting the Strategy and coordinating the process. The firm, according to the Cabildo, has "extensive experience" in the management of European Funds.
