The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, on her behalf and on behalf of the entire capital Corporation, has publicly conveyed her condolences to the family and friends of Enrique Pérez Parrilla, expressing her "regret for such a sad loss."

In addition, she has decreed three days of official mourning for the death of the former mayor of the city between 2007 and 2009, as well as president of the Cabildo for more than a decade. The Consistory thus joins the decision of the Island Corporation itself, which had also announced three days of mourning throughout the island.

"We are left with a very significant person in Lanzarote society, a prominent teacher, a great mathematician and a good person, who both in politics and in day-to-day life, always maintained a conciliatory attitude. In Enrique Pérez, two essential qualities converged to exercise leadership: talent and attitude,” said Ástrid Pérez.

"The city, and the entire Island, sympathize with the pain of their loved ones, because Don Enrique Pérez Parrilla leaves behind a vital, professional and political career, which will make him be remembered as one of the men of peace of Lanzarote," they emphasize from the City Council.
