Argana Viva questions the management of Adislan and asks that the audits of its accounts be made public

The neighborhood movement Argana Viva has questioned the management of Adislan and has requested that the audits of its accounts be made public. And it is that, this association believes that they could be trying to "divert attention" towards the non-payment of workers' salaries to cover up "errors" in the accounts of the acquired subsidies.

"We want to know what is really happening with Adislan and with the funds, which come from all citizens," they pointed out in statements to La Voz from Argana Viva, from where they affirm that they have decided to ask for explanations because they attend to several families who are Adislan users and who are "quite worried" about their situation. A situation that the neighborhood movement attributes to "bad management by the parties that have governed the last 12 years, both those in the government and the opposition", as well as to "the management of the center and the board of directors with the president at the head, who have allowed this to reach the point where the workers and users of Adislan are". "It has been nothing new to verify the incompetence, lack of commitment, transparency, inaction and dereliction of duties," he adds

In this regard, Argana Viva points out that "it must be taken into account that the public utility company Adislan not only receives the bulk of the budget that the Cabildo de Lanzarote allocates to disability and dependency" which, according to the Minister of Social Welfare of the first institution, amounts to 2.3 million euros per year, "but also from other public entities (different municipalities), as well as private companies and individuals".

Thus, the neighborhood movement demands "transparency". "We know that they have carried out an audit this last year with public money commissioned by the Cabildo, for which we request that it be published," demands Argana Viva, which also requests that "the reports that, according to the management of the center, have been carried out annually" be made public. And it is that, the neighborhood movement questions the management of Adislan.

According to Argana Viva, in the annual assemblies that Adislan has been holding, the association has been providing the members with economic reports and the work it does, but these were "very superficial", without "anything detailed". This is what some Adislan members have told him, although the neighborhood movement acknowledges not having had access to them. "That is what we want to know, that they can be made public," they point out.

"We are not going to allow them to use Adislan users"

In addition, Argana Viva asks "why the April assembly" of Adislan "was canceled" and "why its president resigned without informing the members of the reasons and without rendering accounts for 2020". And it is that, according to indicates, the members received a statement in which they were informed that the assembly "was postponed", but "nobody has informed them that the president is not there", despite the fact that "he left recently".

Likewise, the neighborhood movement recalls that "it is a fact that there has not been a contract on the part of the Cabildo and the association" and that "both parties have publicly reflected this". For Argana Viva, the board of directors "in its entirety" of Adislan is "accomplice" of this fact, although from it they disassociated themselves, stating that they did not feel "participant or responsible" for the irregular situation in which the Cabildo's disability service has been providing.

From Argana Viva they demand that the workers collect their payroll, but they affirm to have "the sensation that they try to divert the attention towards the situation of non-payment of payroll of the workers" to "cover the justification of errors in the accounts of the acquired subsidies, which they have recognized exist".

"We are not going to allow them to use the users of Adislan or another association as a weapon between political parties and the people who make them up in any public institution," warns the neighborhood movement, which demands that "those who have been authors and accomplices of this alleged fraud resign and, if not voluntarily, be removed from their positions". "They cannot continue even one more day after this," they conclude from Argana Viva.
