Under this motto, Arenas Internacional School wanted to show its support for the population of La Palma, doing its bit to help alleviate the damage caused by the volcano.
At this time when the sister island needs more from all of us, the students have undertaken various actions in the classrooms (making and sending letters and drawings to the children of La Palma, explaining in the different subjects what is happening, awareness videos...), together with the financial contributions that families and schools have made.
The solidarity action plan began in November and will extend to the coming months, in order to raise funds to help alleviate the devastating effects that this volcano is having on the families of La Palma.
With the support and guidance of the rest of the Educational Community, the students themselves, who are studying the different International Baccalaureate International Programs (PYP, MYP and Diploma), as part of their values education, will lead the different initiatives.
Thus, in November, solidarity breakfasts have been held in which the banana has been the protagonist, chocolate parties, recreational-sports circuits, the day without uniform, and a solidarity book fair, in which more than 11,500 euros have been raised so far.
In the coming months, other actions will be carried out, such as the creation and sale of autumn handicrafts and Christmas decorative objects; solidarity races, a Talent Show, solidarity concerts by the students of the Arenas Albéniz Conservatory, etc.
These are some of the actions with which the Arenas Schools and the Arenas Albéniz Professional Music Conservatory, "with their hearts in La Palma", want to contribute to help the inhabitants of the Isla Bonita.
