Almudena Hernández Wins the First Young Talent Song Festival of Puerto de Arrecife"

The young singer from Arrecife, Almudena Hernández, has won the first

prize of the I Festival of Young Promises of the Song "Puerto de

Arrecife", which was held last Friday, December 9, in the

Ramírez Cerdá park in Arrecife. The artist, who also received the

musicians' award for the best instrumented song, prevailed over a

total of 10 participants, who were presented to this contest organized

by the Department of Youth of the City Council of Arrecife, with the

collaboration of the Youth Association ARTILANZ (Artists of Lanzarote).

Almudena Hernández, who performed the song "Starting Point",

will represent Spain at the next International Song Festival

of Miami, which will take place in July 2012, with a theme by the composer

Juan José Santana. The young woman received the award from the mayor of

Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, and the finalist of the musical contest of the

television Operación Triunfo (OT), the singer Saray Ramírez, who

highlighted the great level of all the participants in the contest.

Along with Almudena Hernández, Raúl Martín was awarded with the song

"Memory", and Gloria Sepúlveda, with "What will become of me".

The jury, made up of music professionals, was composed of

the singer Saray Ramírez, the Canarian composer José Juan Santana, who

will be in charge of creating the theme that Almudena Hernández will take to the IV

International Festival of Miami; the member of the Coral de Arrecife

Lolina Curbelo, and the director of the School of Plucked String Instruments of Arrecife,

Juan Arrocha.

In addition, the director of the Giovanni Bardi choir was part of the jury,

José Manuel Clar, and Silvia Aarón, a member of ARTILANZ, acted as secretary without voice or vote.

Numerous followers of these young artists attended the event, as well as

authorities, among which were the mayor of Arrecife, Cándido

Reguera; the deputy mayors, José Montelongo and Nayra Callero, in addition

to the Councilor for Youth, Joel Delgado, and the councilors of Festivities, Víctor

Sanginés and Security and Emergencies, Cristina Marrero.

Also present at this musical event was the Councilor for

Education, Paca Toledo and the councilor of CC Jacobo Lemes.

In the I Festival of Young Promises of the Song "Puerto de Arrecife"

the Fashion School Dance School, the

Xtrem Up dancers, as well as the Lanzarote Got Talent musical group.

Both the mayor Cándido Reguera, as well as the First Deputy Mayor, José

Montelongo, and the Councilor for Youth, Joel Delgado, directly responsible

for the organization of the festival together with the ARTILANZ Youth Association,

chaired by the also singer Juanjo López, were satisfied with

the development of this festival and pointed out that it represents "a

magnificent initiative that we want to consolidate in Arrecife".

Contestants

With a great staging and eager to make their dreams come true,

the 10 participants offered the best of themselves in their performances in

which they also had the live music of an orchestra that, without

doubt, raised the level of this I Festival of Young Promises of the Song

"Puerto de Arrecife".

Divided into two blocks of five participants each, they were passing

through the stage set up in the Ramírez Cerdá park Inma Sepúlveda with

the song "Va todo al ganador", Jonathan Amaro with "Ave María", Gloria

Sepúlveda with "What will become of me", Adrián Montesdeoca with "Como yo te

amo" and Alexandra Lorenzo with the theme "Por ser tu mujer".

After the performances of the guest artists, the

singer Zebens with the song "Volar", Almudena Hernández with "Punto de

partida", Carlos Santana with "Like I love you", Fabiola Fernández with "One

moment in time" and Raúl Martín with "Memory".

It should be noted that these 10 contestants are finalists from other festivals

held in Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
