A worker from the Lanzarote Association for Assistance in Multiple Sclerosis (ALanEM), Adrián García, filed this Monday, January 30, two complaints with the National Police for having suffered vandalism at its headquarters, specifically he found that “one lock was broken and the other had silicone on it.”
García explains that the conflict situation originated with the acquisition of the ford in 2021. “For some time we have been having problems with neighbors who illegally park in the space reservation that we have from Monday to Friday from eight in the morning to eight in the afternoon. It is used for both workers and users to park here, but people do not respect it,” says the social worker.
“When calling the crane, one got angry and rebuked me. There are several. It so happens that all the problems have started as a result of the insults. We cannot confirm who they are, but we can get an idea”, explains García.
The social worker points out that ALanEM pays 450 euros per year for the ford because “Arrecife does not contemplate the exception of fees for non-profit entities” and that it is “considering looking for money from under the stones to install video surveillance cameras and thus have evidence.”
“It is a constant battle and I have to stop attending to my work to do this. We are in January, a month of justification of subsidies, of making reports, of paying invoices... This conflict is making us waste a lot of time,” criticizes García.
The social worker points out that he hopes that the situation will improve with the complaints. “Normally I think that people understand each other by talking, but there are other people who are not willing to dialogue, so I had to take matters into my own hands. I suffer because something happens to me, my colleagues, or the users. And I don't like arriving with anxiety and fear to my work,” concludes García.
