EDUCATION DEFENDS THAT THE TEACHER WILL JOIN ON MONDAY

"They have only had class two or three times due to lack of a teacher," says a mother. From Education they affirm that on Monday they will have a teacher, who Medical Inspection has incorporated again after taking a leave?

"We are very worried. As of today, the students have not had a chemistry teacher more than two or three times." This is explained by a mother from the IES Agustín Espinosa, who recounts the problem that the Second Year Baccalaureate students are having, who have been "almost since September" without receiving this subject due to lack of a teacher.

On Monday, they plan to deliver a letter to the headquarters of the Ministry of Education in Lanzarote to demand that a teacher be appointed, although this department has indicated to La Voz that the chemistry teacher will join precisely that day.

According to this mother, in September "they were going to appoint the same teacher from last year", but "she took a leave after a week". "Weeks and weeks passed until it was verified that there was an error in the leaves and about 10 days ago a new person was appointed," she says. But this new teacher, who apparently "had not taught classes", was "one or two days" and took a leave, so the students were left without a teacher again.

Before this person was appointed, the school principal was giving some classes when he had free hours, according to this mother, who assures that the students are "desperate". "Not all of us have money to pay for a private tutor and this does not seem normal to us. With the crisis we have, and aren't there any teachers? I feel like they are ruining the PAU", warns this person.

The teacher will rejoin after passing through Medical Inspection

From the island's education management, they have explained to La Voz that the last chemistry teacher who took a leave will join her job on Monday after passing through Medical Inspection. This person had signed up for the web offer, when this position became vacant when the holder took a leave.

From this department they have assured that they are "fully aware" of the problem that these students have, who at the end of the course must present themselves to the PAU, and have indicated that they tried to cover this position, but "the bad luck was that the substitute also got sick." According to the version of the island's education management, the first teacher who had been appointed became ill, so a substitute was sought, but a person who did not want the position was appointed.

As there were no people left on the list, it had to be taken out to the web offer, a procedure that "takes a few days" and in which people who meet the requirements to cover this position sign up. Thus, the person who "most merits" met was appointed, but after joining the classes she took the leave.

This same Friday, this teacher had an appointment with Medical Inspection that had to decide whether to reinstate her or not. Finally, from Education they have indicated to La Voz that Inspection has already carried out this review and has decided to reinstate this chemistry teacher from the Agustín Espinosa school.
