The Socio-Cultural Center (CSC) of Argana Baja will host this Saturday, July 31st, the 1st Urban Art Encounter between Neighborhoods of Arrecife, acerArte

2010, which will close the different encounters with urban art

that have been held throughout the month of July in the neighborhoods of Arrecife. This initiative is part of the neighborhood revitalization campaign launched by the Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Participation of the Arrecife City Council, consisting of the creation of murals in various parts of the city.

"AcerArte" began on the weekend of July 2nd, 3rd and 4th at the CSC La Vega and continued last weekend of July 16th, 17th and 18th with the creation by the youth of Titerroy of the second graffiti at the CSC El Cacharro, and has been a success in terms of participation.

Several local creators, as well as some associations and groups

from the capital will participate in this event, which will close the encounters with

urban art that have been held throughout the month of July in the

neighborhoods of Arrecife.

According to the Councilor for Neighborhoods and Citizen Participation, Lorenzo Lemaur, it is about "generating an encounter in which the neighborhood is the protagonist with urban art as a vehicle for union".

In this first acerArte'2010 encounter, the participation of

several local creators from the different neighborhoods of the capital is planned, as well as

that of some of their associations. According to the Councilor for Neighborhoods and

Citizen Participation, Lorenzo Lemaur, they have tried to bring the

proposals to different age ranges, "trying to generate a

encounter in which the neighborhood is the protagonist with urban art as a vehicle for union".

The capital councilor has also expressly thanked the

collaboration provided in the preparation of this 1st Encounter with Urban Art

by groups such as "Más que Arte", "El Núcleo", "Faro Positivo",

"Lanzate", "Arte para la convivencia", "El Cribo, "Loops 35500", ASOINCOL

Colombian-Lanzarotean Association, as well as neighborhood associations from neighborhoods of Arrecife, and the different artistic movements that participate in this encounter.

Throughout the month of July, the Department of Neighborhoods and

Citizen Participation of the Arrecife City Council, with the collaboration

of Cíclope Insular, has been programming the celebration of the 1st Encounter

of Urban Art between Neighborhoods. To this end, contacts have been maintained

with neighborhood associations, social and cultural groups,

as well as with young urban artists from the different neighborhoods

of Arrecife.

"Take artistic concerns out of anonymity"

As an element of promotion, recruitment and awareness of this 1st

Encounter with Urban Art, during this month, two large graffiti murals have also been carried out. The first in the

Socio-Cultural Center of La Vega, on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th, made by the young

artists from that same neighborhood Daniel and Elio Perdomo. The second graffiti was

made in the Socio-Cultural Center of El Cacharro, on the 16th, 17th and 18th, by

Maxima Clase Squad, a group integrated for more than 10 years by Aaron, a graffiti painter, professional tattoo artist and musician; Sinfo, trained at the Pancho Lasso Art School, and currently a Fine Arts student, as well as a musician and Kant, graffiti champion of Las Palmas and a graduate in ephemeral architecture.

Likewise, Yanire and Sergio Arango, members of Cliclope Insular, have

walked through the streets of the neighborhoods of Arrecife inviting

young people to participate in an encounter that, according to the Councilor for

Neighborhoods, Lorenzo Lemaur, aims to "take out of anonymity the

artistic concerns and skills of many young people who are 'lost' in

the neighborhoods of Arrecife, do not find channels of expression".

Likewise, for this 1st Encounter with Urban Art, contact has been made with broad sectors of the island's associative fabric and with the Pancho Lasso Art School, to promote their participation in it.

The Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Participation intends this to be

the first of many urban art encounters that arise between the

neighborhoods, "since the idea is to generate and promote the artistic movement of local creators from Arrecife".
