The Fire Department had to intervene on Tuesday night to fix a traffic light at the roundabout at the exit of Arrecife. The reason for the intervention was "a short circuit in the box" of this device, which was causing sparks. This has been confirmed by the Councilor for Local Police and Traffic of the city, Jacobo Lemes, who has pointed to the heavy rains that fell in the island's capital last week as a possible cause of this incident.

According to the councilor, it would be "an isolated incident", which was solved "by replacing the part". The mayor indicates, in addition, that it is something "usual", which "usually happens when there is a storm" like the one that hit the island last week.

From the Emergency Consortium, for their part, have confirmed to La Voz that only this incident that occurred this Tuesday has been known, although they point out that "some traffic lights have been out of service for quite some time", "since it rained for the first time" more than a week ago, they clarify.

Review after the discharge suffered by a minor

From the City Council, the Councilor for Traffic and Local Police has also assured that all traffic lights have recently been "reviewed", after a month ago a child suffered a small discharge. As a result of this accident, which took place at the intersection between Cuba and García Escámez streets, the supply to several traffic lights was cut off, until the problem was solved.

According to Lemes, all the traffic lights were checked after this episode and currently, "everything is perfect".
