388 calls registered for gender violence in Lanzarote so far this year

The majority for non-physical violence (154) and physical violence without sexual assault (187)

Lanzarote joins the demonstrations to demand an end to gender violence

The Care Service for Women Victims of Violence has received 388 calls (1-1-2) from Lanzarote so far this year.

In the month of April, the latest data available, a total of 89 calls were registered throughout the island. The majority for non-physical violence (46) and physical violence without sexual assault (35), followed by consultations (four), coordination (two), undefined (one) and one call for physical violence with sexual assault.

Between January and April of this year, 19 women have called the hotline for women victims to report having been sexually assaulted in Lanzarote. The victims of physical violence without sexual assault have been 187, through this service, and 154 in cases of verbal violence.

Contacts with the emergency service have decreased by 5% compared to April of last year. However, Lanzarote continues to be the third island with the most calls to 1-1-2 for gender violence, only behind the capital cities of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

By type of intervention, most of the calls were for emergencies, in situations of imminent danger to life, property or rights of people, followed by urgencies, which require attention, and may be prioritized, as well as some others requesting information.

By municipalities, Arrecife, the most populated of the island, has been the issuer of 60 of the 89 calls made in April, followed by San Bartolomé (eleven), Yaiza (six), Teguise (six) and Tías (six). Meanwhile, in Haría and Tinajo (zero) there have been no emergency calls for gender violence in the last month.
