The Women and Gender Violence Victim Assistance Service of the Canary Islands Government's Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes 1-1-2) received a total of 114 calls in March 2023 from Lanzarote, almost double that of February of the same year and 39% more than March 2022, when 65 calls were recorded on the island, according to reports from the Data Center Lanzarote.
This March has been the month in which the most incidents have been recorded, followed by January, which was 103, and then February with 82. In addition, in the first quarter of this year there has been an increase in calls compared to the first three months of last year, with 299 received compared to 230 in 2022.

Of the 114 incidents of gender violence recorded in March 2023 on the island, 83 were emergencies. Of the remaining, 14 were urgent, and 17 were information. The report also states that, of those 114 incidents, 9 were of physical violence with sexual assault, 47 for physical violence without sexual assault, another 48 for non-physical violence, six for consultation, two for coordination and two undefined.
"In Haría zero cases have been recorded"
As for the municipalities of Lanzarote that registered the most calls to 112 during March 2023 were Arrecife, Yaiza, San Bartomé, Tías and Teguise with 71, 14, 11 and 7 respectively. In the same month of the year, there were four calls to Tinajo and no calls to Haría.
In the Canary Islands as a whole, the number of requests attended to in the Women's Violence Assistance Service has increased in 2023, with a total of 1431 cases compared to the 1134 that were registered in February of this year, around 300 cases more than last month.
The island with the highest number of incidents of gender violence recorded in March 2023 has been Tenerife with 613 calls, Gran Canaria with 539 and Lanzarote with 114. As for Fuerteventura, it has registered 93, La Palma 46, La Gomera 14 and El Hierro the least, with 12.
