The Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital has acquired eighteen treatment armchairs to renovate the furniture of the center's Oncological and Hematological Day Hospitals. The investment of 9,900 euros is part of the humanization plan and improvement of the quality of care of the Management of Health Services of the Lanzarote Health Area.

The new multifunctional armchairs have an innovative and ergonomic design that makes the patients' stay more comfortable while they receive their treatments and adapt to the needs of the patient with different positions that allow reclining the backrest and raising the footrest. In addition, they have wheels that facilitate their mobility and enable the handling and tasks of the Nursing staff. With respect to the previous furniture, it also improves the quality of the upholstery and the filling of its structure.

Of these eighteen armchairs, eleven have been placed in the Oncological Day Hospital. 90% of cancer patients attend this device to receive chemotherapy and immunotherapy sessions, mainly. The patients' stay in this room ranges between two and seven hours, so comfort is a main aspect. In fact, the new incorporation of the material responds to the request of the Nursing team of the two day hospitals to favor the comfort of patients when receiving treatments.

Seven of the new armchairs have been allocated to the Hematological Hospital. Patients come to this room every day to have extractions, tests and treatments that do not require hospitalization.

The manager of the Health Services of the Lanzarote Health Area, José Luis Aparicio, points out that "this acquisition of more modern and comfortable furniture results in the improvement of the quality of care and the safety of patients".
