The Tías City Council will offer, from July 17 to September 1, the possibility of reading on the beach and promoting the cultural life of the tourist area of Puerto del Carmen, thanks to the installation of a beach library in Playa Grande, in the area near the Tourist Office.
The Culture area, led by Pepa González, has prepared a provision of 300 books in Spanish, English and German so that beach users can have copies for reading. The opening hours of the Puerto del Carmen beach library will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"We want to bring reading closer and retain readers so that they do not interrupt this habit through a simple and decentralized loan service, and with an attractive variety of publications in different languages," says the councilor.
This space is presented as an extension of the service provided by the public libraries of Puerto del Carmen and Tías, but will be completed with volumes belonging to the bibliographic collection of the City Council.
Reading stories, novels, poems, essays or histories regenerates the spirit and reduces stress, strengthens memory, develops creativity, improves spelling, expands vocabulary and enriches social skills.
