Intersindical Canaria has repeatedly denounced "the cosmetic operations to which waiting lists are subjected" in the Canary Islands Health Service in order to "sell uncertain data as political propaganda". To which it added this Monday that it condemns that the Canary Islands Executive "Canary Islands has voted against the project debated in the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System (CISNS), where attempts were made to establish criteria for updating and homogenizing information on waiting lists".

With its vote, the Executive of Fernando Clavijo sided with the communities governed by the Popular Party with Vox and Castilla-La Mancha, contributing to blocking the proposal. This was reported by Intersindical Canaria.

"Defend transparency and vote against progress"

The union has pointed out that the Minister of Health, Esther Monzón, must explain "what specific objections Canarias raised and what alternative it proposes so that patients and citizens have truthful, complete and comparable information". "One cannot defend transparency in speeches and vote against progress towards common criteria for reporting on waiting lists," they criticized.

Thus, they have pointed out that this decision occurs while the official data are "absolutely cooked to hide at least 50% of the patients" and have indicated that these include "158,358 people waiting for a consultation, 34,382 on the surgical waiting list and 6,047 patients who have been waiting for an operation for more than six months".

Intersindical Canaria has asked the Executive to explain "why it voted against the state waiting list project, what changes it proposed and what measures it will adopt to end waiting lists, improve available information and reduce delays, while demanding real and updated information".
