A businessman from Costa Teguise reports the continuous robberies committed by a group of young people in his business and in other people's businesses in Costa Teguise. In addition, local merchants also suffer threats and assaults from the criminals, as can be seen in the security camera recordings provided in the complaint that he has filed with the Civil Guard.
According to the businessman, "they know who they are robbing because they do it to stores of Asian bazaars and large chain supermarkets because they know that they will not do anything to them because no measures are taken."
The merchant assures that there is a large group of young people who steal and that "one person tells smaller children to steal and sell it to third parties, but when they cannot take what they want, they dedicate themselves to threatening and fighting with people." He assures that this has been happening "for six or seven months" and several complaints have been filed.
In addition, in the images you can see how some of the young people have knives. The reader says that "I have always known that they carry knives and in the recordings provided with the complaint, you can see how I am with my hand in my pocket grabbing the pepper spray because I knew that at any moment they were going to take it out on me."
"In another of the videos from another merchant, you can see how one of the young people takes out a knife and starts sanding it against the ground and at that moment is when he runs after me and was coming to attack me," he declares.
On the other hand, he also indicates that similar events also occur in Playa Bastián. "There are tourists who go for a walk in the early hours of the morning in a state of intoxication and these kids take the opportunity to hide in that area and rob them, but the tourist the next day does not remember anything or report it," he explains.
Likewise, last Friday he went to file the complaint with the Civil Guard after they appeared at the business that morning. "I told the agents that they had threatened to kill me and that they would come in the afternoon, and so it was, they appeared and went directly to rob my father and it is not the fact of stealing to make a living, but of doing what they want," he says.
"They have even told me not to worry, that they know me and that they will come for me, and also that in a couple of days I would be released and that he would come for us to kill us," he reveals. "They have no scruples because they have nothing to lose," he assures.
Regarding the response they get from the Civil Guard, he indicates that "they do nothing about it and the only thing they say is that we go to the Cabildo to complain daily but they are not going to do anything, there are already writings from the merchants complaining about this situation and every time they go to the Cabildo to complain they say that the person in charge of the Area is on vacation."
Some of these young people have been arrested when the owners of the shops have reported the robberies but have been released later. This Monday, the businessman went to the duty court where they took his statement. Now, he is waiting for a possible trial.
