The Local Police of Arrecife arrested last Friday afternoon in the industrial area of Argana a 26-year-old man, of Spanish nationality, for an alleged crime of gender violence against his partner. Witnesses to the event stated that "he hit his girlfriend" after an argument.

It was precisely the witnesses who alerted the Local Police to what happened. When the agents arrived at the scene, according to the diligence itself, they found the woman, 25 years old and of Italian nationality, "sitting on the sidewalk and crying." The alleged aggressor, upon seeing the police presence, ran away from the scene.

According to the National Police, to whom the file was later transferred, the young woman expressed "that she had not been attacked," and that she had only "argued" with her partner. In addition, she said that "she was not going to report it." However, witnesses told the Local Police that the young man had hit her.

The Local Police, after a raid in the area, found the alleged aggressor, who had a police record for a robbery offense. The agents proceeded to his arrest and he was brought to judicial disposition on the same Friday.
