National Police agents have arrested two women, aged 19 and 20, of Iranian nationality, at Lanzarote airport after they identified themselves at the airport with falsified passports. They tried to take a flight to the United Kingdom. Their original travel documents, of Iranian nationality, were found among their belongings.

The events unfolded when the staff of an airline at Lanzarote airport contacted police officers, as two women who were trying to take a flight to the United Kingdom had identified themselves with apparently falsified Dutch passports.

The police officers were able to verify that the travel documents shown by them had been manipulated, and that one of them had also been reported in the Netherlands.

The two women were arrested and taken to police headquarters, where a search of their belongings was carried out. Among them, two original travel documents of Iranian nationality were found.

After drawing up the corresponding police report, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
