Agents of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard, and the Udaiff of the Lanzarote airport, arrested on January 6 in the framework of Operation Titeroy two people, one 43 years old and another 34 years old, without records, for a crime against public health in its drug trafficking modality. The arrested were carrying more than two kilos of alleged cocaine, hiding one of them in their luggage and another between their clothes when they were about to leave the arrivals area of the César Manrique airport.

This intervention was the result of the actions carried out by the Civil Guard at the Lanzarote airport, aimed at prevention in fiscal and criminal matters, all after establishing a series of controls within the framework of a police operation aimed at arresting mules entering the island.

The behavior of the passengers and the evasive attitude, led the agents to inspect their luggage, locating a gray package inside the suitcase of one of the alleged perpetrators. The other individual was attached to the body and hidden under his clothing several capsules covered with a blue plastic wrapper.

Narcotest test

The agents of the Civil Guard in the exercise of their functions, once the wrappings were opened and the content inspected, carried out the narcotest test, in which they were able to verify that it was a compact powdery substance, testing positive for cocaine, yielding an approximate weight of about 2,350 grams, immediately proceeding to the arrest of the two people involved in the criminal act, for a crime against public health - drug trafficking crime.

Therefore, the criminals in this case acted as human couriers trying to introduce significant amounts of cocaine in Lanzarote.

The proceedings together with the detainees and other evidence were sent to the Investigating Court of the Guard of Lanzarote which decreed communicated prison without bail for both.
