The judge of the Court of Instruction Number 4 of Arrecife has sent two of the five detainees to provisional prison for the landing of 800 kilos of hashish in Arrieta. The other three have been released with charges, with the obligation to appear on the 1st and 15th of each month in the Courts of Arrecife. All of them are charged with a crime against public health, according to La Voz from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC).
The events took place on the night from Saturday to Sunday. Initially, the Civil Guard arrested four people, and managed to abort the landing of 23 bundles of hashish. The agents located two suspicious vans in the town of Mala, and in one of them they found this amount of drugs, so they arrested the two occupants.
In addition, they also located the inflatable boat that they had used to transport the drugs from the neighboring African coast to Lanzarote and arrested two other occupants. Despite these four arrests, the agents did not close the device, as they suspected that there could be a fifth person involved who had escaped from the police cordon.
On Monday, this fifth person appeared at the National Police to report the alleged theft of his van to have "an alibi" and was later arrested by the Civil Guard.
All of them were brought to justice by the Investigating Court Number 4 of Arrecife, which has ordered the provisional imprisonment of two of the detainees.
