Arrest for growing marijuana in Tahíche

The Civil Guard of Lanzarote arrested on February 14th two people, aged 31 and 41, for a crime against public health, for growing and processing drugs in the home where they resided, in the town of Tahíche. The proceedings together with the detainees were handed over to the Investigating Court No. 2 of Arrecife, with the detainees being released pending trial.

As a result of citizen collaboration, the Civil Guard became aware on December 3, 2024 of the existence of a possible marijuana crop in a nursery in the town of Tahíche. The suspicion arose due to the strong smell emanating from the place, with the Agents of the Investigation Area of the Main Post of Costa Teguise having to carry out the steps, for several days and at different times, to verify the veracity of the information provided as a result of a routine inspection carried out by the DEPRONA.

In the operation, which lasted almost three months, exhaustive surveillance was maintained that culminated in the detection of an alleged cannabis plantation at its optimum harvest point.

For this reason, the corresponding entry and search warrant for the property was requested from the duty court, which was carried out on February 14, obtaining as a result an seizure of 1,296 marijuana plants in different states of flowering weighing 36,277 kg, 393.3 grams of hashish, marijuana buds ready for consumption weighing 69.2 kg, chopped marijuana weighing 23.5 kg, various tools for the production of drugs such as heat lamps, drip systems, air extractors, etc. knives, a carbine and the amount of €250 in cash.
