The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise and the Arroba (@) Team on the island of Lanzarote, arrested last February 6 two men aged 32 and 42, as alleged perpetrators of two continued fraud offenses, for the organization of two parties for the nights of December 24 and 31, 2022 named “VEINTI4” and “FIRST”.
The Civil Guard became aware as a result of complaints filed by numerous affected parties in the dependencies of the Main Post of Costa Teguise, stating the victims that they had bought tickets for events that ranged between 40 and 55 euros each plus commission, as a sale concept, being canceled the events at the last minute.
The events scheduled for December 24 and 31, 2022 were attempted to be carried out in two different establishments in the municipalities of San Bartolomé de Lanzarote and Tías, being notified by both city councils that the parties could not be held because they did not comply with the requirements established by current legislation.
Given the breach of legislation that the organizers had as responses from the municipalities involved, they decided to continue selling more tickets than the allowed capacity, not keeping track of the tickets sold by the different public relations, in addition without any type of contract that would enable them for said activity.
These organizers notified that they would return the amounts received to more than a thousand people affected, not having done so until today, even sent notifications of refunds that never took place.
The Civil Guard in the course of the investigation and once all the inquiries were collected and the appropriate steps were taken, was able to determine that the investigated did not have any companies or societies to carry out this type of activities, as well as they did not formally hire the ticket sellers as they themselves apparently identified themselves as public relations, as well as it was clear that there was no organization of hiring of personnel to be employed, music and lights material, drinks, etc. to carry out the events as they were promoted on the website.
The proceedings were delivered to Court No. 2 of Arrecife.
