The Local Police of Arrecife have identified six drivers in less than a week for driving under the influence of alcohol or without a license, four of whom were involved in traffic accidents in the capital.

In one of the cases, the driver tried to flee the scene on foot after crashing into four parked vehicles in Altavista, causing them "considerable damage", according to the City Council. However, thanks to the collaboration of a National Police officer who was in the area and off duty, the agents were able to locate him, identify him and submit him to alcohol tests, in which he yielded a result that "exceeded the permitted rate by more than double".

As detailed by the Local Police of Arrecife, the driver is 47 years old, was identified as J.T.C. and has been reported for a crime against Road Safety.

In addition, in the early hours of Monday to Tuesday, another driver was identified who was five times over the permitted alcohol limit, and who was involved in another traffic accident, losing control of his vehicle and invading the opposite lane.

The other two people identified after causing traffic accidents during the past weekend in Arrecife did not have a driver's license.

In addition, in a police control, two more drivers were intercepted without a license, and one of them was driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages.
