The Local Police of Yaiza arrested three people during the Playa Blanca Carnival, which took place last weekend. These police interventions were carried out on Friday and Saturday by the Citizen Security Operational Unit, which was recently created, according to a statement from the municipality's City Council.
The arrests, they indicated, were lower compared to previous years as a result of the creation of this new unit. Specifically, two individuals were arrested accused of the crimes of disobedience and resistance to law enforcement officers, and another man was arrested for drug trafficking.
On the night of last Friday, agents from the Special Operations Group were forced to intervene after receiving two complaints of drug use during the Carnival celebration. In addition, several people were identified for committing a crime of disturbing public order.
A day later, on Saturday, this service attended to four complaints of drug possession, as well as another for an alleged crime of gender violence and an identification for failing to comply with the closing time of a business. Likewise, the agents arrested an individual accused of a crime against public health for drug trafficking.
According to the Local Police of Yaiza, the agents of this special group "managed to ensure that the number of disturbances to order and fights decreased considerably compared to previous years".
