The Argana Alta cultural center, in Arrecife, woke up this Thursday with the door forced open. Apparently, several people have accessed this facility and stolen a plasma television. Residents believe the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning.
"They broke down a door, got inside and stole the TV. We still don't know if anything else is missing," said Andrés Medina, a resident of Argana Alta, who was "outraged" by the "neglect" suffered by this cultural center.
The facility, located in the Argana Sports Hall, has been closed since March by order of the Arrecife City Council. During this time, residents have been forced to carry out activities in the street, as they do not have a suitable space.
But, in addition, the infrastructure is deteriorating. "We have been warning the Councilor for Culture of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, since March, but there is no way to get them to reopen this. The residents have nowhere to do activities and, in addition, this is abandoned," lamented Medina.
The residents of the neighborhood always complained about the closure of this cultural center, although the City Council argued that, as it is the same infrastructure as the Sports Hall, it did not have an opening license either.
