The Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, has reported that the 55-year-old woman who was allegedly stabbed on Friday in Lanzarote by her ex-partner remains hospitalized in serious condition after surgery.
The victim received several stab wounds, one in the neck, and was operated on after being admitted to the hospital, while the alleged aggressor was arrested after a chase involving agents from the Local and National Police.
The Women's Assistance Unit of the Arrecife Police Station is investigating this aggression as a case of gender violence, the National Police has reported.
The woman is admitted to the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, where she arrived with a reserved prognosis.
