Firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium had to go to the Argana Alta Pavilion, in Arrecife, alerted by an individual. At 2:15 p.m. this past Saturday, they received an alert that several insulating cork sheets were falling from the roof of the sports center and that this posed a risk to pedestrians.
The firefighters approached Seguidilla Street and, with the help of an aerial ladder, accessed the roof and secured the loose sheets that were at risk of being blown away by the wind. According to the Consortium, after that, employees of the sports center renovation appeared, who stayed at the site.
The firefighters collected the sheets that were scattered on the street and stored them in a sack.
It should be remembered that the Arrecife City Council announced a week ago the reopening this spring of the Argana Alta Sports Hall. These facilities have been closed for 12 years and were linked to one of the corruption cases in the capital of Lanzarote. The building was closed due to serious defects and failure to comply with safety and fire regulations.
