National Police agents belonging to the Violent Crimes Unit (UDEV) of the Arrecife Local Police Station arrested four men aged between 21 and 32 years old, some of them with previous convictions for assault, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of attempted homicide. The events occurred in the early hours of November 16, on a public street in a well-known entertainment area of the capital, after the victim was recognized by a group of people with whom she had had previous altercations.
The victim, a 21-year-old young man, facing that situation, fled the scene towards his home in search of refuge while being pursued by the detainees who, after catching up to him, began to beat him, assault him, and finally stab him in the back, leaving the knife embedded.
Some neighbors from the building where the victim resided alerted the authorities and medical services, who took him to the General Hospital where he had to undergo emergency surgery for the injuries he sustained and where they managed to extract the bladed weapon, which was handed over to the officers.
The police investigation quickly identified and arrested the four perpetrators of the assault, who were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who ordered the pre-trial detention of one of them.
