The man found dead this Tuesday on La Madera beach in Tinajo is a former councilor of the municipality's City Council. Specifically, according to sources from the PSOE, it was Urbano Ricardo Toribio Díaz, who was also president of the Timbayba Musical Cultural Group, to which he still belonged.
Specifically, Ricardo Toribio was a Youth councilor under the mandate of the socialist Marcos Hernández between 1999 and 2001 and also a councilor in the opposition between May 2003 and December 2004. In addition, in 2015 he ran as number seven on the PSOE list for the elections, although he was not elected then.
According to the Civil Guard, everything points to Ricardo Toribio being fishing when, for reasons that are being investigated, he fell into the sea. And, in an area near the location of the body, fishing gear was found.
The discovery of the lifeless body of Ricardo Toribio occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. this Tuesday, after the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 received an alert reporting that they had located a body floating face down about 300 meters from the aforementioned beach. The GES helicopter carried out the recovery of the body and, following instructions from the judicial authority, transferred it to Lanzarote airport, where it was taken over by the Civil Guard.
