The officers of the Territorial Fiscal Patrol (PA.FI.TE.) of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise located five premises in the town of Puerto del Carmen (Tías) where a large quantity of counterfeit goods with the designs and labels of a prestigious commercial brand were exposed to the public, having sale prices equal to the originals. The shops, of the bazaar type, are located three on Avenida de Las Playas, one on Calle Reina Sofía and another in the C.C. La Peñita.
The five employees of the respective establishments who were present at the time of the inspections, four resident Chinese and a Spanish man of Maghrebi origin, have been charged with these acts.
In addition, two other inspections were carried out in Playa Blanca (Yaiza), in a bazaar on Calle Limones and another on Avenida Marítima in said town, with the arrest of the manager of the first premises, the male M.S.D., 40 years old, Spanish originally from Morocco, while the employee of the second premises, a Moroccan resident on the island, has been charged with the same crime.
In total, 277 wallets, 272 women's bags, 148 watches, 65 belts, 19 purses, as well as other types of accessories, valued at 500,000 euros, were seized. These items had anagrams and logos of the firm "Louis Vuitton", being imitations of great quality, making it imperceptible to differentiate the false products from the originals.
These actions were motivated by the complaint filed by a legal representative of the company "Louis Vuitton Malletier", a company that has expressed its gratitude to the Civil Guard for the services provided in fiscal matters and protection of industrial property rights.
