The Civil Guard has intercepted a boat with 30 males of Maghrebi origin on board that was sailing north of the island of Lanzarote. 12 minors were traveling in it and one of them presented symptoms of sunstroke. The rest of the occupants are apparently in good health.
According to the armed institute in a statement, at approximately 10:15 a.m. this Saturday, the Exterior Surveillance System (SIVE) in Lanzarote detected a suspicious echo approximately 12 miles from the north coast of the Island.
Given this fact, a vessel from the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Las Palmas went to the place, resulting at 11:30 a.m. in the interception of a rigid wooden boat of the patera type of about five meters in length with about 30 male people of Maghrebi origin.
The immigrants were immediately transferred to the aforementioned Civil Guard vessel, which is currently heading towards the Port of Naos for disembarkation and thus proceed first to their corresponding medical attention.
The Civil Guard of Costa Teguise explains that once the corresponding procedures are completed, it will hand over the immigrants to the National Police Force.
