Agents of the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Costa Teguise proceeded to arrest, between December 15 and 16, two men as alleged perpetrators of a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation and two less serious crimes of theft, which occurred in the towns of Caleta de Famara, Mozaga and Tao.

On December 15, the Civil Guard received several warnings in relation to various crimes against property in the places described, such as in a bungalow located in Caleta de Famara, and a robbery with violence inside a house in Mozaga, where the owner surprised and tried to retain, without success, the perpetrators of the act, for which he suffered injuries for which he needed medical attention.

The civil guards began the appropriate investigations aimed at locating the suspects, obtaining a series of data in relation to the vehicle used, which belonged to a rental company. As a result of this line of investigation, the agents obtained a series of indications of the person who at that time had it rented, corresponding to an individual who had numerous records for criminal acts against property.

Attempt of possible alibi

After ascertaining the data of this person, the acting agents were alerted that the suspect was in police facilities in Tías, with the intention of filing a complaint for the theft of a vehicle he had rented. However, from the Benemérita it is pointed out that on the other hand the victim of the robbery with violence had recognized through police files this same person as one of those who had accessed his house.

Thus, the civil guards immediately arrested him as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with violence.

Second arrest

Continuing with the police procedures, on December 16, the second alleged perpetrator of the events was located and arrested, in addition to locating the rental vehicle used, recovering different objects such as a laptop, a card reader, a computer mouse and a watch that were recognized by other victims of another crime against property committed in the town of Tao.

In addition, in the exteriors of the house in Mozaga several packages of gifts, a backpack, a knife and a carbine with its telescopic sight were recovered, which were recognized as their own by the complainant.

From inside the private vehicle of one of the detainees, several foreign currency bills (Thai, Moroccan, Indonesian, etc.) were recovered, which were recognized by the complainant of the crime against the property of Caleta de Famara as his property.

The detainees were placed at the disposal of the corresponding Investigating Court on duty in Arrecife.
