The Civil Guard arrests six people for stealing 14 smartphones from a store in Costa Teguise

Four of the alleged perpetrators, all minors, committed the robbery and the remaining two people - of legal age - were arrested for acquiring the stolen objects.

The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Costa Teguise, in Lanzarote, has investigated and arrested between March 28 and 31 six people, four of them minors between the ages of 14 and 17, and two adults with initials Y.U.P.S. and A.B.M.; the first four for a crime of robbery with force in things and the remaining two for a crime of receiving, for acquiring objects or goods produced in a crime.

According to the Civil Guard, on March 19 it was reported that it had been committed the previous morning by breaking the window with a large stone, taking the perpetrators of the crime a total of 14 smartphones that were displayed in the latest generation showcase, with the price of each ranging between 300 and 600 euros depending on the model

Inquiries and location of part of the telephones


After several investigations, the agents were able to locate part of the stolen telephones, which had been sold to several stores that buy and sell used objects in the town of Arrecife. In this case, two adults were identified who had a family and friendly relationship with the minors, being essential to be of legal age to carry out the sale of the stolen objects, intervening part of the terminals (four) and proceeding to their arrest for the alleged authorship of a crime of receiving when making said sale knowing its origin.

In parallel, the Civil Guard continued with the investigations that resulted in the recovery of five more terminals and identifying and locating the alleged perpetrators of the robbery, based on several indications, including the recording of the security cameras of the shopping center where the affected business is located.

In this way, four minors were investigated, who have been placed at the disposal of the Las Palmas Minors Prosecutor's Office for a crime of robbery with force in things.

 

Crime of receiving


The purchase of stolen or stolen objects, in addition to constituting a possible crime of receiving punishable by prison sentences of six months to two years, encourages the commission of this type of crime.

The two detainees for receiving - of legal age - have been placed at the disposal of the corresponding Court, on guard duty, of the town of Arrecife.
