The Civil Guard has arrested a woman at Lanzarote airport for a drug trafficking crime, after attempting to introduce 324 grams of cocaine into the island. The arrest occurred on November 21 when S.P.B.M., of foreign nationality and 46 years of age, landed in Lanzarote on a flight from Madrid.

During a routine check in the arrivals hall, agents from the airport's Tax Detachment stopped this woman, who aroused their suspicions due to "the contradictions in her answers" and her "nervous attitude."

The agents then proceeded to carry out an inspection and, according to the Civil Guard, the woman admitted at that moment that she was carrying a package with cocaine attached to her body. Afterwards, they verified that she was carrying that package hidden between her legs.

The woman was arrested for a crime against public health, and together with the seized drug, she was placed at the disposal of the duty court of the town of Arrecife.
