The Civil Guard and Customs Surveillance locate 13 kilos of cocaine in a postal package

On November 11, 2008, Customs Surveillance (Tax Agency) and the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Lanzarote seized 12.96 kilograms of high-purity cocaine as a result of a Controlled Delivery of a postal package, authorized by the Investigating Court number 23 of Madrid.

The postal package, transported by a courier company, which originated in Bolivia and was destined for Arrecife (Lanzarote) was detected at the Customs of the Madrid-Barajas airport. The declared merchandise being 20 kg of books.

Once the controlled delivery was authorized by the Court of Madrid, in order to arrest those responsible for receiving the postal package, and after laborious and intense investigations, P.O.G., 52 years old and of Argentinian origin, was arrested by the acting agents for an alleged crime of Smuggling and Against Public Health.

The detainee, together with the seized drug, was placed at the disposal of the Arrecife (Lanzarote) Duty Court.
